Hyperquake Creative Technologists play a key role in bringing immersive experiences to life through the design and integration of interactive technology, including touchscreen displays and experiential environments. They are responsible for translating creative vision into functional, technical solutions—bridging the gap between design intent and real-world execution. This role requires a deep understanding of spatial design, user interaction, and hardware/software integration. Creative Technologists at Hyperquake participate in designing software and hardware architecture, learn to write professional, well commented code, create technical documentation and specifications, supervise technical vendors and subcontractors, and collaborate with designers and producers to execute the team’s creative vision. Success in this role requires not only technical expertise, but also curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to communicate across disciplines to create work that is both innovative and impactful. This is a hybrid position out of our New York office. Responsibilities Lead technical aspects of projects from concept to delivery, with varying involvement at each phase Work with project managers to define technical requirements, outline system and software architecture, and build production timelines Develop software from visual specifications, Write clear, well-commented code and follow QA/testing process to ensure final product meets Potion’s quality standards Collaborate and work closely with designers to push static designs and concepts into functional digital applications that can be completed within the schedule and budget Lead development teams through code reviews and software planning Define software requirements and APIs for software components to be built by other teams or external companies Lead technical communications with external vendors such as AV integrators, lighting integrators, fabricators etc. Spec AV and PC hardware for interactive installations in collaboration with AV partners and internal experts Manage time between several projects at different phases Create technical documentation of projects for internal and/or external use Share best practices with the Potion team and mentor other Developers Contribute to open-source communities Explore new technologies, platforms, and languages Represent Potion as a knowledgeable expert in proposals, client presentations/meetings, and possibly speaking engagements Travel to physical locations for various reasons, including but not limited to client meetings, presentations, installations, and maintenance Qualifications Minimum Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred 5+ years of professional experience in Creative/Design/Agency Setting, product production or enterprise-level engineering projects Expertise in large-scale interactive installations (executive briefing centers, museums, theme parks, etc) Experience with software development and hardware deployment required for multiple synchronized computers, depth cameras, various sensors, projection mapping, touchscreens, media walls, etc. Proficiency in Graphics Programming and/or Game Programming (i.e. Unity, Unreal, Touch Designer, Processing, ThreeJS or equivalent) Experience with real-time communication (i.e. WebSockets, OSC, Server-Sent Events, Distributed Systems) Proficiency with Git-based source control and experience working in a collaborative source-controlled environment Experience in Computer Vision, GenAI, LLM orchestration / pipeline architecture Proven ability to prototype, test, and iterate on hardware and software solutions to ensure technical feasibility and creative alignment Proficiency with technical documentation, system mapping, and integration planning for both digital and physical components Experience with hardware platforms (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, touch controllers) Passion for emerging technology and a drive to explore new tools and techniques that push creative boundaries Ability to work Eastern time zone hours in a hybrid work environment in Brooklyn, NY Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Engineering and Information Technology Industries Marketing Services Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Hyperquake by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Senior Technologist” roles.
