Public Health Intern, Data MavenData Maven, formerly Arundel Metrics, Inc, is a public health insights company of highly skilled epidemiologists who provide an unmatched depth of knowledge and experience. We are experts at finding and assessing valuable data that already exists to help advance various causes. We analyze large federal survey datasets and turn data into insights and actionable stories to be shared with key audiences to eliminate disparities and improve the health and well-being of all people. Our vision at Data Maven is to provide individuals, communities, and leaders with clear, concise, and insightful information to promote longer, healthier lives. For over 30 years, our company has authored a well-known national and state population health ranking report. This product is seen by a broad and diverse audience, from public health professionals to individuals working in advocacy organizations or on Capitol Hill. We write and publish three population health reports annually: one focused on general population health, one on the health of women and children, and one on the health of older adults. We manage and analyze 300 measures annually from 60 data sources. We continuously evaluate potential new data sources for the project, reviewing methodologies and evolving to meet the latest data analysis and equity standards. We also write and publish a public health impact statement for each measure where we identify risk factors, populations disproportionately affected, and programs and/or tools to address the issues.We have an opening for a paid ($21.50/hr) intern for 15 to 20 hrs/week. The primary responsibility is conducting literature reviews on various public health topics and summarizing the literature review findings in one- to two-page public health impact statements that are published online. The intern may also assist in data checking, writing health reports and blog posts. The Data Maven internship fulfills the Applied Practical Experience (APEx) requirements and could be a resource for an Integrated Learning Experience (ILE).Location:This is a remote position with the option to connect with colleagues in shared workspaces.
