Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares, compounds, and dispenses medical orders/prescriptions. Essential job functions may include performing some clerical duties relating to the department. Assistance to the pharmacist in retail and/or hospital pharmacy may be required. Incoming supplies are received and stored. Stock is verified and data is entered in the computer to maintain inventory records. Effective communication with customers is necessary. A variety of tasks are performed. Other related duties may be assigned. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field is expected. Experience and judgment are relied upon to plan and accomplish goals. Competence to meet age-specific needs of the patients served is required. Hospital exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens are followed. Confidentiality of all hospital and patient information is maintained at all times. HIPAA regulations and policies are followed. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. Communication with co-workers is conducted in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
