About Graham Land & Cattle Co.: Located in Gonzales, Texas, Graham Land & Cattle Co. is seeking a dedicated, hands-on professional to join our team. This is a full-time, year-round position essential to the daily health and management of our cattle herd.
Job Summary
The Pen Rider is responsible for the daily observation, care, and health management of cattle in preparation for either grass or feed yard placement (backgrounding). This role requires physical labor, diligent record-keeping, and the ability to work independently within an irregular schedule.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
The daily tasks for this position are critical to animal health and data integrity and include, but are not limited to:
Animal Health Management: Administer vaccinations and provide daily doctoring for sick calves.
Backgrounding: Assist with backgrounding high-risk calves in preparation for herd movement.
Logistics: Manage shipping, sorting, and receiving of cattle.
Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed records of doctoring protocols, sick calves, and mortality counts (dead’s).
General Duties: Perform various other tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Schedule & Requirements
Work Status: Full-time, year-round position.
Schedule Note: The work schedule may be irregular and requires flexibility, including availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Experience: Must be comfortable working in a hands-on environment and possess experience in cattle health management (doctoring, administering vaccines).
