Job Summary: Materials Chemist Intern  

3D Architech is an early-stage startup. We place immense weight on the ability to develop our product launch. In this position, you will directly work with and report to 3D Architech’s senior materials science engineer and co-founder (PhD in Materials Science). You will be exposed to a real, fast-paced startup environment.

In this internship, you will experience cutting-edge technology development and real-world problem solving at the same time. 

Responsibilities :

• Thoughtful action, being present, focused, and attentive – planning and executing experiments with safety and diligence in mind 
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and coworkers 
• Conducting experiments for material development: inorganic, nanomaterial, and polymer synthesis, and additive manufacturing 
• Conducting material characterizations and high throughput experimentation 
• Summarizing/reporting experimental results with detail, insight, and critique 
• Flexibly reprioritizing goals and plans with new findings and discoveries 
• Taking ownership of assigned tasks and delivering results in a timely and efficient manner 

Location :

Cambridge and Somerville area  

Desired Qualifications  

This position requires wet lab experience and a basic understanding of materials science .

We are looking for candidates with the following additional traits: 

• A clear understanding of one’s own objectives and professional developmental goals 
• Open to reevaluating one’s protocols, receiving constructive feedback, and taking responsibility for errors with plans to improve and grow 
• Ability to accurately and thoroughly document work on printed documents and computer databases 
• Ability to interpret and report experimental results
• Good logical sense and critical thinker 
• Publication records in polymer science or additive manufacturing are plus 

Time Commitment  

We are actively looking for

• Full-time interns with > 10 hours (Starting date is flexible)  
• Full-time fall interns (September-December, 2025)  

The part-time hours are flexible and vary week by week, depending on your availability. The internship period can be renewed as mutually agreed.
