Description Responsibilities As an Instructional Designer at Tyler Technologies, you will be immersed in our Training and Education team while gaining an understanding of the public sector and technology. The Instructional Designer will write scripts for instructional videos, produce instructional videos, load content to the learning management system, assist with writing internal and external informational documents, and perform various other duties. The designer will participate in instructional design activities related to supporting Tyler's more than 7,000 employees and 15,000+ clients across North America.
- Utilizes ADDIE or other instructional design model to create curriculum and develop highly effective e-learning content built on adult learning theory (ALT).
- Employs various e-learning authoring and video production tools to maximize interaction, engagement, and learning.
- Researches, tests, writes, gathers, organizes, and edits content that can be reimagined for use as online courses, instructional videos, training materials, support content, and other knowledge assets.
- Reports to and works closely with his or her manager and other instructional designers and curriculum developers to plan and schedule projects.
- Produces scripts, videos, and other instructional content that conforms to established guidelines and Tyler/Department best practices.
- Proofreads and copyedits content for proper use of grammar, punctuation, and styles in accordance with department guidelines.
- Collaborates with team members during all aspects of the content creation process to ensure consistent and accurate information.
- Works within the learning management system to load and update content.
- Manages own work schedule to complete assigned tasks on time.
- Participates in cross-department teams focused on product improvement.
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time, within the confines of honest and ethical behavior, to ensure the success of Tyler Technologies and the Training Department.
Qualifications - BS/BA degree in instructional design, educational technology, or very closely related field. (Extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of specific degree).
- Experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or closely related area is preferred, but schoolwork may apply.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required, with exposure to e-learning, image, and video authoring tools such as TechSmith Products (Camtasia Studio, Audiate, and Snagit), Adobe Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or other video editing software.
- Intermediate to advanced graphic design abilities using Adobe products or Canva.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS).
- Ability to follow a project design plan and complete courses in accordance with plan timeframe.
- Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred.
- Positive team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
