Job Description

Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, OurNationalConversation.org, seeks to reduce partisanship and get America talking again. We are completely nonpartisan, focused on solutions and powered by youth.

Job Description

The Grant Profit Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by securing funding through compelling grant proposals and targeted research. The Grant Writer Intern is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, drafting and editing proposals, and maintaining accurate records of funding efforts. This intern will work closely with the Nonprofit Fundraising Team Lead but some work will be completed independently. Therefore, strong time management and self-motivation are essential in this role.

This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. This intern must commit to at least the end of the Fall Semester (December 8th, 2025). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals
  • Prepare clear, concise and persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications

  • Develop and maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines, submissions, reporting requirements, and funding cycles

  • Collaborate with program managers, finance, and leadership to gather necessary information and budget details for proposals

  • Ensure all proposals meet funder requirements and are submitted on time

  • Prepare progress reports, impact statements, and renewal requests, and donor communications

  • Build and sustain positive relationships with current and potential funders

  • Stay informed on trends, policies, and best practices in grant writing and nonprofit funding

Qualifications

  • Current or recent student working towards a degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, English and/or related fields.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) are required.

  • Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict.

  • Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines.

  • Google Workspace experience required.

  • Experience with data-keeping is preferred.

  • Satisfactory organization skills.

  • Ability to keep information confidential.

  • Ability to attend the weekly All-hands meetings.

  • Ability to attend weekly Business Development Department meetings.

  • Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.

  • Include a one-page Cover Letter submitted with application

Additional Information

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.

Please send us a short COVER LETTER along with your resume.
