Position overview

We are seeking an experienced video editor with an understanding of traditional video editing tools like Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro as well as some of the general open-source standards for video editing like ffmpeg and moviePy. The editor should also be proficient with AI filmmaking techniques and tools.

The position will be freelance for the months of July and August 2025, billable hourly for 35 hours/week (10AM-5PM) at $55/hr. Although the role is hybrid, part of each week will be in-person in Los Angeles in DTLA. There is a strong opportunity to grow into a salaried position based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build unique, cinematic commercials using Vica’s technology platform and contribute to requirements for new features to increase speed of delivery and deepen the quality of our outputs
• Assemble high-quality short-form video commercials from prompts into Vica’s technology platform that produces scripts, voiceovers, still frames and video
• Combine video segments, still frames and voiceovers into a cohesive story within tight time constraints (typically 15, 30, or 60 seconds) and dimension constraints (16:9, 9:16 and 1:1)
• Leverage Vica’s proprietary After Effects templates to quickly produce polished, professional-grade commercials
• Create new templates in After Effects as needed
• Provide final edit using Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar tools
• Integrate music, sound effects, graphics, and text overlays
• Apply color correction, audio mixing, and basic motion graphics as needed
• Maintain brand consistency and visual style across projects
• Collaborate with creative leads to revise edits based on feedback from clients or internal teams
• Organize and manage video assets using cloud-based project management tools (e.g. Frame.io, Dropbox, Asana, etc.).

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience editing commercial, branded, or promotional content.
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop)
• Proficiency in AI filmmaking techniques
• Knowledge of AI audio creation tools, including music and voiceover creators
• Knowledge of AI image generators and prompting techniques, including Midjourney, Flux, Imagen and OpenAI
• Knowledge of AI frame interpolation tools, like Runway, Kling, Higgsfield and Veo, including text-to-video techniques
• Strong storytelling instincts with an understanding of pacing, tone, and audience
• Knowledge of aspect ratios and platform-specific editing (TV, YouTube, TikTok, Meta, etc.).
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Preferred understanding of ffmpeg and moviePy video editing standards and applications
• Preferred familiarity with basic Python programming
