The hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p .m. (flexible start and end time). Address for the assignment is 320 South Walnut (second floor), Lansing, MI
Provide assistance as needed on the following tasks: assisting DTMB's Financial Services Retirement Accounting Unit and the Office of Retirement Services in preparing, analyzing, verifying, and reviewing daily deposit transactions and related documentation and financial reports.
Updating ORS Clarity Database for retirement member deposit transactions.
ssisting with updating Healthcare vendor cost reports.
Preparing and recording journal entries into the State's SIGMA Financial system.
Creating wire transfer and ACH payment transactions.
Trouble shooting and researching data to resolve cash deposit and other accounting discrepancies and errors.
Reconciling and updating schedules for management review.
Perform various other accounting financial and analytical duties and tasks.
Skills Required (Word, Excel, data entry, any physical requirements, etc.)
bility to collect and organize accounting data, interpret its significance, and prepare accurate financial reports. Ability to conduct analysis with a high level of independent judgement.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, methods, practices, and terminology.
The ability to solve difficult and complex accounting and related financial problems.
bility to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
bility to communicate effectively with others.
bility to work with others and be comfortable with a team approach to management.
bility to utilize Microsoft Excel & Word with at least an intermediate level of experience.
bility to utilize other software applications/tools to extract and process financial data.
