Position Summary

Concordia University seeks a qualified applicant to fill one full-time (12 month) faculty position in the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) Program, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The MSAT Program is housed in the School of Health Professions and is located on the University's Mequon, Wisconsin campus. This faculty member will serve as the Director of Clinical Education for the MSAT Program and oversee all aspects of clinical education. The successful candidate will be mission-oriented, invested in student success, and committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of clinical education and maintain positive relationships with community partners.
  • Establish, maintain, and evaluate all clinical education sites.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, evaluate, and communicate with all clinical education preceptors.
  • Assign and supervise all clinical education experiences, in alignment with the CAATE requirements.
  • Ensure that the Athletic Training Students receive robust clinical education experiences that reinforce their vocation and the University's Lutheran mission.
  • Maintain all CAATE required clinical education documentation.
  • Actively participate in the administration and delivery of the MSAT Program. This includes maintaining compliance with the CAATE Standards for Accreditation of Professional Athletic Training Programs, curriculum development, and strategic planning.
  • Teach designated courses within the MSAT program, evaluate student performance, and ensure that all learning outcomes are met.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to students in the MSAT program.
  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of Athletic Training Students.
  • Actively participate on committees, maintain office hours, and attend required meetings.
  • Service to the MSAT program, the School of Health Professions, the University, and/or the community.
  • Produce peer-reviewed scholarship in accordance with the standards outlined in the Concordia University Faculty Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the CAATE accreditation requirements.
  • Knowledge of the eValue clinical education management system and the Canvas learning management system.
  • Contemporary expertise in athletic training.
  • Ability to teach effectively to various learning styles and incorporate diverse pedagogical methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the MSAT Program, the School of Health Professions, and the University.
  • Ability to connect faith and learning both in and out of the classroom, with a commitment to the mission and values of Concordia University and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Education & Experience

  • A terminal degree, or progress towards a terminal degree, is preferred. A master's degree in a related field is required.
  • A minimum of two years of postsecondary teaching experience is required.
  • Previous clinical practice in athletic training is required. A minimum of five years of clinical practice is preferred.
  • Prior supervision of Athletic Training Students is required.
  • Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification.
  • Possess a current Wisconsin license as an athletic trainer and be in good standing, or be eligible for licensure.
  • NPI number with the appropriate health care field designation.
