Join to apply for the Directional Drill Operator role at The Zemba Companies Job Summary The Directional Drill Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy, motorized equipment used in aspects of earth moving excavation in both surface and subsurface conditions in a safe and efficient manner. The Directional Drill Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by Company policies and procedures. Essential Functions Ability to operate a multitude of heavy motorized equipment used in earth moving operations, including, but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, compaction equipment, skid steer, directional drills and front-end loaders to support a variety of operations. Constructs, builds, levels and excavates land and below surfaces using construction equipment, always maintaining awareness of your surroundings and swing radius. Uses equipment as appropriate to perform general excavation practices such as leveling, grading and loading. Identifies and observes proper construction hand signals etiquette to efficiently and safely operate machines. Loads a multitude of materials either to or from job sites onto different variations of trucks, transport vehicles and roll off containers for transport to or from appropriate locations. Operates heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner in order to minimize the risk of injury or property damage. Performs daily safety and maintenance checks. Ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures. Operational Excellence & Culture Embrace company culture, standards, and operational best practices. Experience Requirements Class A CDL License with Tanker Endorsement. One or more years’ experience. Ability to mentor Operator Laborers and Operator IIs. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent customer relations skills. Ability to work in areas of uneven terrain. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exemplify a strong work ethic. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license Able to successfully pass all required training. Physical Requirements Standing or walking Lifting or carrying 50+lbs. on a frequent basis Pushing or pulling Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level Foot or leg controls on machinery or equipment (controls include, but are not limited to, pedals, buttons, levers, and cranks Driving passenger vehicles or equipment Education Requirements High School diploma or general education degree (GED) Safety Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
