Job Title Airport Customer Service Assistant Company City of Durango Overview As an Airport Customer Service Assistant, you’ll provide friendly, professional support to passengers and visitors at the Durango‑La Plata County Airport (DRO). You’ll assist travelers with directions and airport information, monitor the TSA exit lane for security compliance, help with parking lot issues, enforce curbside parking rules, and keep an eye on the terminal to ensure safety, security, and smooth operations. You’ll also stay in regular communication with airport staff and employees to coordinate services and respond quickly to any issues. Key Responsibilities Greet passengers, visitors, and airport staff in a friendly and professional manner, providing information about flights, parking, transportation, and airport services. Ensure compliance with TSA and airport security measures by monitoring secured exits, patrolling the terminal curbside, and enforcing parking restrictions, including issuing citations to unattended vehicles. Respond to parking lot issues, such as lost tickets or system outages, assist with payments, and perform light maintenance or system checks on parking equipment. Serve as a liaison between terminal tenants and the airport, addressing concerns and helping improve services. Assist with light snow removal and ice management on curbsides and sidewalks. Monitor radio and cell phone communications and respond to requests from airport staff and supervisors. Support airport security by performing routine terminal checks and reporting potential security issues. Maintain terminal appearance, including signage, trash cleanup, and furniture organization. Monitor baggage claim and baggage handling areas for safety, security, and operational issues; contact airport or airline staff as needed. Provide wheelchair assistance and support to passengers with disabilities. Observe and report maintenance needs and perform light custodial and grounds upkeep as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Six months of customer service experience. The ability to successfully pass a background investigation in accordance with TSA Part 1542 and maintain eligibility for TSA and FAA security clearance requirements. Follow safety rules, airport policies, and procedures while making sound decisions on the spot. Work well with others, building positive relationships with coworkers and the public.
