Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Employment Type: Full-Time, On Site Job Overview STS Technical Services is hiring an Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting Department under the direction of the Accounting Manager. In this role, you will support various accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger, and purchasing/receiving assistance, while contributing to special projects as assigned. This position offers a dynamic environment where your attention to detail will be key to maintaining financial accuracy and efficiency. Core Responsibilities Accounts Payable (80% of the Role) Review vendor invoices, determine their purpose, and code them accurately. Match and prepare A/P invoice documents for timely entry. Enter invoice information into Epicor system efficiently. Analyze employee expense reports for accuracy and proper documentation. Reconcile vendor statements, requesting copies of missing invoices as needed. Respond to vendor payment status inquiries and requests. General Ledger (20% of the Role) Prepare and organize documentation for fixed asset purchases. Prepare and review monthly general ledger account analyses for accuracy. Purchasing / Receiving Assistance Collaborate with Purchasing and Receiving departments to resolve issues, including obtaining price variance approvals. Ensure goods or services were received before entering invoices. Other Duties Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as assigned. Organize and maintain document retention systems. Assist with special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions in all units of measure. Ability to read and interpret various accounting documents such as accounts payable reports, invoices, bills of lading, and packing slips. Ability to prepare basic spreadsheets using MS Excel and basic formula functions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document new procedures and follow instructions consistently. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively. Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset. Must pass competency test and pre-employment physical and drug screen. For Consideration Education: Associate’s degree preferred, or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
