Planting for the Birds

Planting for the Birds 2020

Join in the fun to help the Friends of Lake Claremont on this popular planting day. Come along and meet some of your neighbours and see the magnificent work being done.

Due to covid-19, you must register prior to attending this event. Please email folc.wa@gmail.com to register. We are restricting the number of volunteers to 50 per session. The target is to plant 500 local native seedlings.

The session runs from 9 to 11:30 am.  Help is needed from 08:30 – 09:00 to lay out the plants.

The meeting location is on the north side of the park opposite Lisle Village (where Lisle Street meets Alfred Road.  Look for the FOLC yellow flag.

Please wear closed in shoes and be prepared for rain. Gloves, tools and instruction are provided. Please bring along a water bottle. We are uncertain at this time if we will be able to serve tea and refreshments (due to covid-19 concerns)

The FOLC are proud to be leading one of the largest ongoing restoration projects in Perth. Only local native trees and shrubs are being planted to help enhance the natural environment and provide habitat for the local wildlife like insects, frogs, skinks and birds.

The FOLC have obtained a grant from the Swan Alcoa Landcare Program (SALP) to purchase 8000 native seedlings this year.  The FOLC will coordinate and lead the volunteers to plant the seedlings on the north side of the park adjacent to Alfred Road.
