Red-tailed Black Cockatoo

Calyptorhynchus banksii

The Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, which occasionally visit our lake, are a sub-species endemic to the south-west. They have declined in range since European settlement, apparently because of habitat destruction.
Red-tails have a softer call than the White-tailed Cockatoos.
