Black-fronted Dotterel

Elseyornis melanops

A few of these beautiful, tiny plovers can be seen in summer, when the water levels are dropping but before the lake dries. Look for them scampering on the soft mud, searching for food.
The juvenile birds lack the adult’s broad black band on the breast.
